Intermediate Space / 2018

Former Estonian Academy of Arts building Lembitu st., Tallinn, Estonia

6 channel sound installation, endlessly evolving

“Intermediate Space” was a site-specific constantly evolving 6-channel sound installation located in the courtyard of the former Estonian Academy of Arts temporary building on Lembitu street. In the process of creating this sound installation, I recorded the structural sounds of the active buildings surrounding the courtyard using a contact microphone. These recordings were turned into a new soundscape in the middle of the building complex. The aim was to question the existing spatial concepts and to highlight the importance of the temporary or the intermediate.
