Conceptual Room / 2012

Sound installation, 12 channel audio, darkened environment

In a completely dark environment, 12 audio monitors aim to reproduce the architecture of a standart space through sound. Using relatively high pitch vocals, the word “wall” slowly rotates around the listeners and therefore constructs a barrier that is not visible but can be located when navigating around the room. One audio monitor is placed on the door of the entrance repeating the word “door” in the same interval, giving way for the listeners to exit the room with no visual aid. The “white cube” exhibition environment is eliminated by darkness and replaced by a different spacial reception, where the viewer and the artwork are in direct contact through a very unique sensorial experience.

In this portfolio, the lightproof space is illustrated with a 3D model – the sound is an actual documentation of the work.
